Lindsey Vonn Lands Bit Role on ‘Law & Order’

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Was that a real moment between Bob Costas and Lindsey Vonn during the NBC coverage of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Saturday night … or just a typical cross promotion for the Peacock network? You be the judge.

The gold medal winning American downhill ski champion, one of the darlings of the Vancouver games, appeared with Costas. At the end of the interview, Bob reminded Lindsey that she’s the biggest ‘Law & Order’ fan in the world. Lindsey didn’t deny it. She said it was true and the video they showed of her visiting the set and gushing about the show looked very sincere.

Well, just like a game show host, Bob announced that it was Lindsey’s lucky day. ‘Law & Order’ Executive Producer Dick Wolf had written Lindsey into an upcoming episode of the show. Costas even had notes about the role and the lines. She’s going to play a jury foreman who says, “We have, your honor” and “The jury finds him guilty.” … Well, so much for reasonable doubt!

It’s very NBC to do something like this. Actually, all the networks are guilty of this kind of ’stick a sports star in a TV show’ stuff. The thing about Lindsey Vonn, though, is that she’s so gosh darn cute as a button that they’ll be wasting her as a jury foreman. Lindsey actually volunteered to play a corpse, but that wouldn’t have been using her to the best advantage.

While she may not be an actress, I think she could have been used in a more prominent way. Maybe as an expert who offers the detectives crucial information on a case, or even a witness who might know more than she’s telling. She simply has a presence that seems magnetic, which may have every eye in the courtroom on the foreman.

Shortly after, Emily Ryan (guest star Amy Madigan) steps in with The Innocence Collective, determined to prove his innocence and reverse the verdict. Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) soon discovers that Emily’s overeager student assistant, Lisa Klein (guest star Anna Chlumsky), may have crossed the line to get a testimony in her client’s favor. Epatha Merkerson (Lieutenant Anita Van Buren), Sam Waterston (District Attorney Jack McCoy), Alana De La Garza (Connie Rubirosa) and Linus Roache (Michael Cutter).

BENJAMIN BRATT TO RETURN TO ‘LAW & ORDER’ AS DETECTIVE REYNALDO CURTIS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 23, 2009 – Benjamin Bratt, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Detective Reynaldo Curtis on “Law & Order,” will make a special return appearance as as Detective Curtis in an upcoming episode, it was announced today by series creator and executive producer Dick Wolf.
Bratt was a series regular on “Law & Order” for four seasons (1995-99) and in addition to the Emmy nomination, earned two ALMA Awards for playing Detective Curtis. In the upcoming episode, Detective Curtis will be reunited with his former “boss” Lt. Anita van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). “Law & Order” airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC.

“I am thrilled that Ben is coming back for a return appearance. He joined us for our recent 20th anniversary celebration and it was like he never left,” Wolf said.

This should boost those sagging Friday ratings.

Benjamin Bratt has signed on to reprise his role as Det. Rey Curtis on Law & Order, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Bratt, who vacated the mothership a decade ago, will shoot his one-episode comeback next month. I’m told the actor will figure heavily in a story involving S. Epatha Merkerson’s Van Buren. Might he be back to comfort her during her current health crisis? That’s my guess.

Happy to have Det. Curtis back, even if it’s just for one episode? Sound off below!
